XEOS Imaging drives innovation with RIEGL and IGI integration

XEOS Imaging, a leading aerial surveying company based in Quebec, Canada, has recently enhanced its operational capabilities with the acquisition of the RIEGL VQ-1460 airborne laser scanning system, integrated with the IGI CCNS-5 computer-controlled navigation system. This combination of leading-edge technologies marks a new era of precision and efficiency in their aerial surveying operations.

The IGI CCNS-5, known for its advanced Flight Management System (FMS), integrates seamlessly with RIEGL VQ airborne laser scanners, including the VQ-1460 wide-area mapping system. This integration, complemented by the IGIplan mission planning solution, provides a comprehensive suite of tools designed to optimize flight planning and execution. For XEOS Imaging, this has resulted in increased data acquisition efficiency, reduced environmental impact, and enhanced overall flight safety.

The RIEGL VQ-1460, renowned for its linear scan pattern and ultra-wide area mapping, offers a laser pulse repetition frequency of 4.4MHz and an effective swath width of 60 degrees. Capable of long-range detection up to 5400 metres, this system ensures high collection efficiency. Operating at an airspeed of 150 knots, the VQ-1460 can survey up to 615 square kilometers per hour with an average of 8 points per square meter.
