Onocoy presents global RTK precision service

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Onocoy has officially launched a global real-time kinematic (RTK) service, Onocoy RTK. According to the company, this is a groundbreaking new initiative that has the potential to transform high-precision positioning across various industries by offering unparalleled accuracy and reliability. The provider of a hardware-agnostic global GNSS high-precision network powered by blockchain technology claims that this represents a significant step in scaling RTK satellite navigation for mass-market applications.

Co-founded by industry veterans Daniel Ammann and Thomas Nigg, Onocoy leverages blockchain technology and decentralized physical infrastructure network (DePIN) principles to create a decentralized GNSS network. This approach enhances existing GNSS infrastructure, introducing an open-access, hardware-agnostic global GNSS network aimed at fostering inclusivity and broad market participation.

Unlocking precision globally

Onocoy is focused on building a dense, high-quality GNSS reference station network to unlock global high-precision positioning potential. This is driven by a vision of a community-owned, decentralized system ensuring equal access to high-precision GNSS technology worldwide. Utilizing Web3 technologies such as smart contracts and decentralized ownership enables the company to separate GNSS infrastructure management from correction services.

The Onocoy RTK service has been specifically designed to serve professionals in industries such as agriculture, construction, land surveying and robotics by providing precise and reliable positioning data with global coverage. Besides being verified via blockchain for high accuracy, the service offers fast convergence times and easy integration, making it a cost-effective solution that reduces operational expenses for industries requiring precise navigation.

Another advantage of this new RTK service is the innovative pricing model that combines a low base fee with a pay-per-use option, according to the company. This is aligned with the aim to make high-end technology accessible without the burden of a hefty price tag. Additionally, Onocoy’s service supports easy integration by providing data in standardized RTCM formats, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of systems and appealing to both new and established market players.
