Creaform, a business of AMETEK, and worldwide provider of automated and portable 3D measurement solutions, announced the latest advancements to its HandySCAN 3D|MAX Series. These improvements include a significant enhancement of the volumetric accuracy for large parts, additional measurement feedback to guide users confidently capture the right data on the first attempt, as well as other software upgrades designed specifically to enhance hardware performance, demonstrating once again Creaform’s commitment to its customers.

The HandySCAN 3D|MAX Series integrates the core benefits of the HandySCAN 3D lineup, optimized to obtain metrology-grade measurements in minutes for large and complex parts. This results in highly accurate 3D scans without requiring surface preparation, ideal for professionals in diverse industries such as mining, transport, energy, and heavy industries.

With the introduction of new algorithms, the upgraded HandySCAN 3D|MAX Series now achieves an accredited volumetric accuracy of up to 0.075 mm + 0.010 mm/m, which represents, for example, over 30% increase in accuracy on a 5 m part. A new target acquisition mode, enhanced target quality indicators, and a target deviation table have also been integrated to provide comprehensive measurement feedback, ensuring the quality of the 3D model, as well as an increase in speed, portability, and simplicity.
