CHCNAV’s i83 Pro GNSS receiver advances productivity and accuracy

Reading Time: 2 minutes

CHC Navigation (CHCNAV) has introduced the i83 Pro, a versatile IMU-RTK GNSS receiver. Combining advanced GNSS capabilities with enhanced compatibility options to deliver superior performance, the i83 Pro is designed to meet the diverse needs of surveying, construction and mapping professionals. CHCNAV is a leading provider of geospatial technologies.

The i83 Pro represents CHCNAV’s commitment to providing surveyors with cutting-edge tools to improve productivity and accuracy, according to CHC Navigation Product Manager Zac Li. “It is equipped with a range of advanced technologies and a wide range of connectivity options. The i83 Pro offers optional Trimble RTX and OmniSTAR support and the optional Trimble MAXPro Positioning Engine to provide extended performance,” he said.

Precision in challenging environments

The i83 Pro incorporates CHCNAV’s third-generation GNSS antenna and the latest iStar algorithm, increasing GNSS signal tracking efficiency by 30%. With 336 channels and support for GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo and QZSS constellations, the i83 Pro delivers centimetre-level precision in seconds, even in challenging environments. The receiver also offers optional Trimble RTX and OmniSTAR support, providing RTK-level accuracy without relying on a base station or VRS network.

CHCNAV’s new GNSS receiver offers advanced connectivity options, including built-in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, 4G and UHF modems. This comprehensive suite of communication technologies supports various GNSS surveying modes, including RTK Networks NTRIP and UHF base-rover configurations. The receiver is compatible with VRS, FKP and MAC for Network RTK, ensuring precise positioning in diverse operational settings.

IMU tilt compensation

Featuring a premium 200Hz Auto-IMU sensor, the i83 Pro significantly enhances the usability and reliability of GNSS RTK surveys. The integrated IMU technology allows for tilt compensation up to 60 degrees with 3cm accuracy, eliminating the need for precise pole levelling and increasing surveying efficiency.

IMU tilt compensation technology allows surveyors to measure or stake out points while the survey rod is tilted. This capability removes the need to level the antenna, making fieldwork faster and ensuring precise measurements even on rough terrain.

Engineered for durability

The i83 Pro is engineered for durability in challenging field environments, featuring an IP68-rated enclosure that offers comprehensive protection against dust and water ingress. Its compact and lightweight design enhances portability, making it suitable for prolonged field operations. The receiver includes a high-resolution colour display that offers clear and concise status information. Additionally, the integrated 9,900mAh battery ensures up to 20 hours of continuous operation in rover mode, supporting extended fieldwork with minimal downtime.
