Exyn broadens Nexys ecosystem with Inspired Flight partnership

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Exyn Technologies, a leader in autonomous robotics, has enhanced its modular 3D mapping capabilities through Nexys, now fully integrated with the IF800 Tomcat UAV from Inspired Flight Technologies. This compatibility brings together advanced mapping precision and the dependability of a high-performance, medium-lift drone, expanding opportunities for unmanned exploration.

The IF800 Tomcat by Inspired Flight is built for versatility, with a lightweight, compact, and foldable frame that allows easy transport and deployment across diverse environments. When equipped with the Nexys system, this drone achieves over 30 minutes of flight time, maximizing both efficiency and productivity. As a secure, high-quality solution, the IF800 Tomcat serves the needs of commercial and governmental operations, enhancing both data security and operational effectiveness.

Continuous map refinement

Brandon Torres Declet, CEO of Exyn Technologies, highlighted the benefits of pairing Nexys’ autonomous mapping system with the Inspired Flight platform, noting it “offers users a seamlessly integrated, U.S.-made, NDAA-compliant, and Blue UAS-approved solution to quickly capture accurate, colorized, real-time 3D point clouds.” This partnership aims to maximize both operational efficiency and security. Torres Declet expressed enthusiasm about collaborating with Inspired Flight and expanding the Nexys ecosystem across various robotics platforms.

Highly adaptable to dynamic environments, Nexys’s SLAM-based spatial mapping captures up to 1.9 million scan points per second, continuously refining the map as new data streams in. Integrated with drones such as the IF800 Tomcat, it enables users to manually pilot or leverage Exyn’s advanced Level 4B autonomy, accessing otherwise unreachable data without relying on pre-existing maps, GPS, or infrastructure. This autonomous capability also supports beyond-visual-line-of-sight (BVLOS) and out-of-range communication, with data collected onboard and transmitted once communication is re-established.

“This integration enables users to capture survey-grade data beyond visual-line-of-sight with extended flight times and 3D data visualizations in the field,” commented Adam Bilmes, director of business development at Inspired Flight. “This collaboration brings together two industry leaders, known for their exceptional performance, support, and service, ensuring customers receive the highest quality experience.”
