Toitū Te Whenua Land Information New Zealand (LINZ) is inviting suppliers to provide airborne topographic and bathymetric Lidar data for its 3D Coastal Mapping programme. A request for tenders (RFT) has been issued through the Government Electronic Tender Service (GETS), with a submission deadline of 8 October 2024.
The 3D Coastal Mapping programme aims to survey up to 40% of New Zealand’s coastline to enhance preparedness for climate change impacts, such as coastal erosion. The data collected will be used to generate detailed 3D maps of the coastline and adjacent seafloor, creating a baseline for monitoring changes due to climate events and natural hazards, including tsunamis and earthquakes.
LINZ intends to select one or two suppliers over a three-year period to carry out the data capture across various regions of New Zealand. Priority will be given to highly populated coastal areas, locations with significant infrastructure, and regions at greater risk of coastal inundation.
